Head of Karelia had a meeting with the delegation of the Regional State Administrative Agency for Eastern Finland

The cross border point in Parikkala-Syväoro was also discussed.

Delegation of the Regional State Administrative Agency for Eastern Finland was on a three-day working visit to Karelia. A meeting with Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen within the scope of the visit took place on August, 22.

One of the matters of the most concernment for both parties today is development and arrangement of border-crossing checkpoints. According to Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen, the republic has submitted its application to The State Border of the Russian Federation federal program concerning inclusion of construction of the new international automobile checkpoint Syväoro-Parikkala into it.

— We hope that our offers will be taken into account, and Syväoro checkpoint will be constructed according to modern requirements in 2015-2016. This object is of primary importance for us considering that a new direct high-speed road between St.Petersburg and the state border that will reach Sortavala in 2016 is under construction now, — Head of Karelia emphasized.
